Your 1st trip down the Danube coincided with my introduction to mountain biking and at the age of 61 the book blazing saddles inspired me this year to ride the C2C (St Bees on the Cumbrian Coast across the to Robin Hoods Bay on the North Yorkshire Coast. It was a awesome 6 Days and the route took us through the 3 North of England National parks. If you are intersested I could send you some photos of our trip.
Not only did we experience some beautiful scenery, stayed in a veriety of accommodation in cluding a Youth Hostel ( at the age of 61) and like your party of riders we met some great people. This next year I hope to ride from Paris to Bordeax and along the Canal de Midi to the Med. Can you advise a source to research the most scenic route??.
I would be happy to receive any advice and route instructions you may have. Regs Eric Moran

Hi James,

My mom is your number one fan and clips out your column for me to read as she thinks it ir required reading.

Surprisingly enough we are living in the house in Parkview of the late Giuseppe Bottero who willed it to my mother-in-law. If I can coordinate it I think my mom would make the trip from Benoni to join us for tea if you were to be available some time. We should be able to arrange a print or two if you are interested.

My wife is a bit of a natural birth activist and if you find the time you can see what she gets up to at the linked web site. Did you know that the private hospitals in South Africa have one of the highest caesarean rates in the world, over 90% in places compared to the WHO recommendation of under 20%?

Nice blog you have.

Fond Regards
Kalle

I was near hysterical reading this. I was born as lead toys were becoming known as the Great Evil, but I did have a few wonderful moments with lead farm animals before they were untimely ripped from my grasp.

I actually wrote a very moving tribute to why puberty was better than being a lead donkey a few years back. ;-) I might dig it out for Christmas blogging when my brain turns to tinsel fuzz.

Best regards
Michelle (of Africa - Arts and Soul on Facebook)

Hi Dave, I have just returned from two weeks in the bush (as we like to say over here) - seeing herds of elephant and buffalo, etc. hbence the delayed response.
Regarding Densa:
a reader of my column suggested the name many years ago and I once googled it and found a Densa existed for a time in the US. It was a serious society whose motives were uclear to me.
There is nothing to stop you using the name - nor do you have to credit me- unless your objective is the same - ie: to create a spoof society for those who can't make Mensa. Even then you don't have to.
I can if you like send you a copy of a report on our last AGM. It'll take me time to find.
My secretary, Threnody Higginbottom (we call her Miss Smith) who files everything under M for Miscellaneous, can look for it.

Hi James:

I was glad to learn about you and Densa. A few months ago, I had purchased a domain name about Densa before I stumbled upon your good work in this area. I would like to start a Densa club in North America with a few different wrinkles to it and I was wondering if you would have no objection to me proceeding as long as I recognize you on my site for the funny and great work you have done to lead the way? Please let me know by writing to me at dobgolf@hotmail.com. I am based in Canada. With thanks,

Well, I don't go out much. But all that's changed now. I took your advice and bought a mud pack. Oh, Aunt Pru, you've really spiced up my love life. My boyfriend took me to movies last night. And actually held my hand. He says if I wear the mud pack all the time, we can even have friends around! Mud-caked kisses, Clare
